"We" vs "I" Leadership
It’s not about you! It’s about me!
You see this phrase here ^^^— it should give you chills when it comes out of your mouth
!
It gives your people chills! Because it says more about you and your motives than you think.
Sure, leaders struggle in silence and sweat over building great environments and that should be something to be proud of. But when it comes out selfishly we’ve got a problem and we’ve forgotten what leaders are supposed to do.
"We" and "I" leadership styles.
If you’re a leader and haven’t realized how much they don’t tell you the truth, you’ve got a problem and it could be that you’re pushing them away with “I” Leader behaviors. “I” leadership behaviors are the reason why you’re losing their trust, and confidence so…if you want to create environments where they feel valued and empowered read this list below, pick some to work on, and GO!
On the flip side, if this doesn’t matter to you then keep doing the same old thing!
Here’s a list of things to know about “We” leaders and “I” leaders.
Tendencies of I Leaders:
They focus on personal achievements and recognition.
Prioritize individual success over team cohesion.
Take credit for successes without acknowledging the team's contributions.
May alienate team members by seeking personal glory.
Stifle creativity by imposing their own ideas without input from others.
Make unilateral decisions without consulting the team.
Demonstrate a lack of humility and empathy.
May prioritize personal advancement over the needs of the team.
Tendencies of We Leaders:
Embrace teamwork and collaboration.
Value the contributions of every team member.
Celebrate victories as a team.
Foster a culture of inclusivity and belonging.
Encourage diverse perspectives and ideas.
Seek consensus and input from the team in decision-making.
Lead by example, demonstrating humility and empathy.
Prioritize the needs of the team over personal glory.
Now that you’ve read both lists, pick one or two from the first list and then two from the second and swap them!
