What do you do if...
When a situation pops up in your life, what do you do?
Call an expert.
Here’s an example, if your HVAC unit stops working, you call an HVAC technician.
If the refrigerator stops working, you call a repair guy.
If your car starts smoking, you take it to a mechanic.
But when you have communication, collaboration, and relationship issues on your team, who do you call?
…I’ll wait…
See, this is the problem. We often don’t have anybody to call because calling someone means you have to open up about the problems you’re facing and that means you don’t have it all under control. And if you’re the boss or the leader you can let them know you don’t have it under control.
So, what do you do?
You read books, you talk to people, you search high and low for anything and everything that will help you figure it out.
That’s where building a leadership toolkit comes in handy.
When you start to build a toolkit you can start to implement them as soon as you need them!
I know this might be a foreign idea or difficult to visualize so here’s a visual I made for you.
A leadership tool like the influence model, which we will be discussing this Friday, is so powerful it will give you a starting point on how to interact with those you work with, and those you lead.
We all have filters we use by default to decide how we interact with people and others have the same filters but they use them differently.
Character, chemistry, competence, and credibility are four filters we use so innocuously it’s hard to even understand how we misuse them when we interact with others.
But FEAR NOT! This Friday, we will be doing a deep dive into this tool and I promise, in less than 45 minutes, you will be blown away by the deep insights you’ll gain.
